I actually really like the background in this piece, and feel like it adds more texture to the work than some of your other paintings, possibly as a result of not having to wait for the oil to dry. I love that the little bits of red get to peek through, and love the way they bounce off of and compliment the blue, as well as the skintones used. I really enjoy the sort of... peace... that I feel from this painting, despite the fact that it also has a purposefulness and energy to it that suggests movement. It seems almost as though the peace I feel, is the peace that the diver/gymnast must have been feeling mid-flight.
This is a wonderful image, thank you so much for sharing.
Stunning! The movement and energy you capture here . . . wow!

ReplyDeleteI don't think there should be problems with oil over acrylic, however problems can occur if you paint acrylic over oil.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the energy of your work, David, and its looseness and vibrancy!!!!
